My wife and I have decided we no longer can stand living in the house we are in. Our next door neighbor drives us nuts. We do not have time to keep up the maintenance we should be doing. Mortgage fees are too high. We need to drive to get to anything we need to do. We don’t enjoy the home overall. In our area rent has gone down considerably and we could just use a totally different lifestyle. Looking around in the near vicinity of Maple Grove, and Plymouth we were both excited and surprised by the very low rates available for some extremely nice amenities.
For a two bedroom apartment in a complex that has an outdoor and indoor pool, a racquetball court, included internet, paid electricity, indoor parking allows dogs up to 75 pounds. And is 1200 square feet we could be paying only $1054 in Plymouth, MN. The las time we had looked at this same complex the rents were around $1400 for the same floor plan six years ago. Well, plus the 25 dollar dog fee to have our companion animal. That was simply a shock to both of us. We have been paying much more for our 2100 sq foot home, with much less to go with it.
We visited five properties and at the end of the day were excited by the possibilities just in those properties.
One of the properties is offering a move in bonus this month of the first month free. I had heard of these deals, but thought that they were far and few between. I was appalled however to learn that at almost every one of the properties the security deposit was really more of an administrative fee. You only get %50 back even if the place is in perfect condition when you leave. That just makes no sense to me. If something is a deposit then it should be refundable in full.
The question that is in our minds is really about what do we want this next year to be about. We know we do not wish to get rid of Donovan, our Dandy Dinmont Terrier. We know we want to have more accessible exercise/recreation choices. We know we want to have a more stress free life.
